Peace talks in Syria fade

Later the next day "Peace Talks" fail in Geneva regarding Syria.

In Syria talk of rebels advancing on all bases in Syria. Word of Rebels taking helicopter station. Day after Geneva meeting between U.S. and Russia and UN Special Envoy. Envoy stressed sees no sign of peace.

"If you are asking me whether a solution is around the corner, I'm not sure that is the case," he said. "What I am certain of, is that it is, there is an absolute necessity for people to continue to work for such a peaceful solution."  UN Special Envoy Lakhdar Brahimi

Rebel commanders in Damascus say that an explosion targeted a convoy carrying top military officials from a security meeting Friday at the presidential palace.  They said that the Iranian ambassador, several Hezbollah commanders and four Russian generals were in that convoy.

A rebel commander told Al Arabiya TV that five rebel brigades took part in capturing the base and received help from fighters of the al-Qaida-linked Jabhat al-Nusra. The commander said dozens of government soldiers were captured, along with tanks, armored vehicles and boxes of munitions.

Shows signs of hope for the rebels. Who some see as terrorist groups.

“It’s a very big victory for the Islamic groups,” said the director of the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, who uses the pseudonym Rami Abdulrahman. “They are the strongest in Syria now because the Western countries won’t help.”

While today France strikes Mali in Africa. Supporting government led troops in fight to get rid of the islamic fundamentalist that ran over the country last March.

Britian supports France along with a special East African Group.

Fighting continues throughout Sudan, Congo, Somalia as well as various other regions within Africa. A lot of United Nations Peace Keepers are busy with these regions. Which could be a reason why the UN is failing on Syria.
